Arriaga Quartet

Arriaga Quartet

The Cuarteto Arriaga de Banco de España was founded in 2023 at the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía under the direction of Professor Heime Müller. The members of the quartet are Irene Herrero, Gustavo Gil, Adriana Julio and Álvaro Lozano.

Since its foundation, the quartet has given concerts in various Spanish cities, including Madrid, Santander and several locations in Andalusia and Valencia. They have had the opportunity to perform at important venues such as the Casino Real, the Teatro Real and the Royal Palace.

In June 2024, the quartet played at the Royal Palace for the King and Queen of Spain during the celebration of the tenth anniversary of the coronation of King Felipe VI.

In addition to this significant performance, the Cuarteto Arriaga was awarded the prize for the  outstanding string quartet of the school for the academic years 2023–2024 and 2024–2025, presented by Queen Sofía of Spain.

They were also awarded the gold medal and a special prize at the Vienna International Competition.

During their studies, the members of the quartet attended masterclasses from leading international quartets, including Günter Pichler (Alban Berg), Vera Martínez (Cuarteto Casals) and Gregor Sigl (Artemis Quartet).

They have recently been selected to participate in the Santander Music Festival in July 2025 and the Marvão International Festival in September 2025, where they will perform concerts with internationally renowned musicians.
